Convert XML to JSON
Transform XML into JSON offline—parsed and serialized locally with zero backend processing.

How it works
Converting XML to JSON is a two-step process that runs entirely in your browser. First, your XML is parsed into a plain in-memory data structure. XML elements become nested keys, attributes are kept with an @ prefix, repeated sibling elements become arrays, and the root element name is preserved. Second, that structure is serialized as JSON with consistent indentation, ready to paste into configs, APIs or scripts. JSON maps directly onto objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans and null, so it is the most faithful intermediate shape. Because both steps are local JavaScript, sensitive payloads such as customer exports, infrastructure manifests and credentials files never travel to a server, and conversion keeps working on a flaky connection once the page has loaded. The output updates as you type, and invalid input is reported with the parser’s own error message so you can find the problem quickly. Spot-check important conversions, especially when your data mixes numbers that look like text, empty values and deeply nested arrays.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting XML to JSON upload my file?
No. Parsing and serialization happen entirely in your browser. PrivateDevTools has no conversion API.
What XML shapes convert cleanly to JSON?
Most structured documents convert cleanly. JSON maps directly onto objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans and null, so it is the most faithful intermediate shape.
Will comments survive the conversion?
No. Comments are dropped when the input is parsed, so the output keeps your data but not your annotations.
Can I convert large documents?
Yes within browser memory limits. Extremely large files may feel slower on modest devices.
Is this available offline after first load?
Once the static page and scripts are cached by your browser, conversions continue without a network round trip for processing.
